2024 Gipsie Jack Sauvignon Blanc
Gipsie Jack is now in its sixth year of producing a Langhorne Creek Sauvignon Blanc. After several years abroad producing a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, then a brief batch or two from the Adelaide Hills, we have done a full circle and returned to our home roots. Our Sauvignon Blanc (we believe) seems to get better & better each vintage! With a cool start to the growing season, along with cool weather during maturity, sees this Sauvignon Blanc with intense flavour characteristics, a higher natural acid and finesse as those of the cooler regions.
Viticulture Notes:
The vines are spur pruned and trained to vertical shoot positioned canopy (this is fairly standard for growing good quality Sauvignon Blanc in Langhorne Creek). The soils are free draining, sandy loam over a red clay layer, which are ideal soils for growing Sauvignon Blanc and gives good vine balance.
Winemaking:
The fruit was machine picked in as a single parcel. The fruit is then pressed, and the free run juice is cold settled prior to being racked and fermented cool. After a short period on lees post fermentation, the wine is then racked and stabailised to make a fresh, balanced, fruit driven, refreshing Sauvignon Blanc.
Tasting Notes:
This wine displays a lot of varietal Sauvignon Blanc characters of the cooler regions. Stone fruits, tropical fruit and hint of passion fruit. The palate is fresh and balanced with some texture from a short period of lees contact and has a clean crisp finish. Cellaring Chill, Drink now & Enjoy!
